Ranch Canin Manitou

The following conditions are intended to clarify the operation of Manitou Canine Ranch.
They exist to provide a coherent, respectful, and safe environment for dogs, the people who entrust them to us, and the place that hosts them.

The ranch operates on a relationship of trust, transparency, and shared responsibility.
These conditions help avoid misunderstandings and allow you to leave with peace of mind.

Nature of the place

Le Ranch Canin Manitou is not a traditional kennel.

It's a group living environment, in nature, with real and accepted constraints.

The dogs spend their days outdoors, in small compatible groups (usually 2 to 4 dogs), in a large environment including forest, fields, and a body of water. They explore, interact, and rest.

This model is not suitable for all dogs.

Dogs must be able to live in groups, tolerate a changing environment, and handle a certain distance from humans.

At night, two rest modes are possible depending on the dog's profile:

• caged, in a calm and safe environment
• outdoors, for dogs accustomed to this lifestyle and with appropriate fur

Dogs must already be comfortable with the resting mode assigned to them.
This is not a place to learn to sleep in a cage or sleep outside.

The choice of resting mode is determined by the kennel based on the dog and the conditions.

The essential rules

• Three-step registration: form, visit, and 24-hour trial
dogs must arrive in good health
• Required core vaccines (DHPP and rabies)
- females in heat may not be admitted
• lives in small groups in natural environments
• food is provided by the owner
• an emergency contact is mandatory
• stays are payable on arrival
• Arrivals and departures are by appointment

Registration

Registration is done in three steps:

• on-site visit
- 24-hour trial

This process verifies that the environment is suitable for the dog and that the ranch can meet its needs.

During its first stay, the dog is already on its third visit.
This way, it arrives in a familiar environment, which facilitates its integration and reduces stress.

Registration is confirmed only if the dog is deemed compatible with the environment.

The information provided must be complete and accurate.

Dogs for whom this environment is generally not suitable

Because each dog is unique, the evaluation is always done on a case-by-case basis.

Without being an exhaustive list, this type of environment is hardly suitable:

• to dogs highly dependent on human contact
• for dogs with low tolerance to other dogs
- for anxious dogs in open or changing environments
• for dogs that are not comfortable with the required rest mode
• for dogs requiring constant or very individualized supervision

Health and vaccination

Dogs must be healthy upon arrival.

A dog showing signs of illness cannot be admitted.

Required vaccines:

• DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza)
- rage

An official certificate must be presented.

Vaccination against kennel cough, leptospirosis, and the use of antiparasitics are not required.
These decisions belong to the owner and their veterinarian.

Females in heat

Unsterilized dogs are allowed.

Females in heat cannot be accommodated.
If heat waves occur during the stay, the owner or emergency contact will have to pick up the dog.

Ranch life

Dogs live in packs in their natural environment.

Interactions between dogs are an integral part of this living environment. They are observed and carefully supervised, within thoughtful and compatible groups.

As in any environment where dogs interact freely, a certain level of risk remains present, even with rigorous selection and constant supervision.

Choosing this type of environment also means recognizing the realities associated with it.
Group life involves an element of the unexpected that cannot be completely eliminated.

Each owner remains responsible for costs related to their dog's care, except in cases of clear fault attributable to the ranch.

Food and medication

Food is provided by the owner for the duration of the stay.

A sufficient amount must be provided to cover the entire stay, including a buffer in case of extension.

Drugs must be :

• prepared in pill organizers
• accompanied by clear instructions (reason and function of the processing)
• administered in pill organizers

A copy of the veterinary prescription is required.

Chew toys are highly recommended in sufficient quantities.
Adding probiotics is also recommended.

Veterinary care

Veterinary care authorization is mandatory.

In case of a problem:

The owner is contacted
- emergency contact can be requested

If no one can be reached quickly, the ranch will take the necessary measures to stabilize the dog.

Veterinary and transportation costs are the responsibility of the owner.

Emergency contact

An emergency contact is required.

This person may be called upon to intervene if:

the owner is unreachable
• a health problem arises
• an extension is not possible
• an exceptional situation requires it

Reservations and Payments

Reservations are made online by the customer only.

Stays are payable upon arrival.

Extensions, cancellations, and shortened stays

Extensions of stay are possible subject to availability.

Reservations can be canceled before the dog's arrival. Owners are asked to inform us as soon as possible.

Shortened stays are neither refunded nor credited.

Arrivals, departures, and vacation periods

Arrivals and departures are by appointment only, according to the established schedule.

No arrivals or departures are scheduled on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The ranch is closed two periods per year, approximately two weeks in mid-April and mid-November.
Dogs can stay during these periods, provided they arrive before and depart after them.

Adhering to schedules is part of the proper functioning of the ranch. Any changes must be communicated as soon as possible.

Personal belongings and images

Items can be provided, without guarantee in case of loss or damage.

Photos or videos may be taken.
The owner can request that his dog not appear.

Death

Although rare, death can occur.

The owner will be contacted immediately.
The dog will be transported to the veterinary clinic to confirm the situation and allow for necessary decisions.

Liability

Le Ranch Canin Manitou carries liability insurance.

Each owner remains responsible for their dog's actions and any expenses incurred during its stay.
